Bernie's Funeral and Wake

Thank you to everyone who came to Bernie's funeral and wake last week. It was good to see so many people there celebrating Bernie's life both in and away from rugbyand was a fitting tribute to the family man, sportsman and teacher At the clubhouse, Gary Frame and Dave Cookson provided memories of Bernie at school and on the rugby field and I thank them for their thoughtful contributions which were appreciated by all. Richard and Betty gave us an insight into Bernie the husband and father and the anecdotes from past players as the afternoon progressed added to our appreciation of him. On your behalf, I thank Gerry, Kelly and the catering team for the food and drink, which were excellent. The club will be donating to Cancer research in Bernie's memory and we are also discussing a more permanent memorial to him.
