Despite heavy rain falling throughout the match onto an already sodden St Peters , both teams played enough rugby to keep a fair number of hardy supporters engaged. The game was suggested by Deal's Coach as a means of giving a blend of available 1st and 2nd XV players some match practice before the resumption of league fixtures and Thanet's coaches happily concurred. It was good to see Forwards' Coach Gary Hingley back on duty after a recent operation. After 17 minutes a nicely worked movement between Cam Pond and Taylor Lawrence ended with a trademark Phil Kemp finish. Danny Clement, who opened at scrum half today before reverting to his usual hooking duties later, scored the second after forward pressure. Two excellent conversions from Ryan Copp made the half time score 14-0. Taylor Lawrence looked particularly sharp and scored twice in the second half either side of a try from Captain Dave Lemon to give a final score 0f 29-0. Thanks to referee Jez Michaels and touch judge Ian Lodge for turning out on such a foul afternoon. No-one will attach too much significance to the result between two hastily assembled sides but given the postponement of next Saturday's Crowborough fixture the usefulness of the gametime for those Wanderers who featured is apparent. The 2's are at home on the 10th January with an Invicta league fixture versus Charlton Park 2's (Kick Off 2.00PM) and the 4ths also have a home fixture sheduled versus Ashford Barbarians.
