Girls Rugby @ Thanet Wanderers R.U.F.C.

Thanet Wanderers is committed to growing Girls Rugby in East Kent. With our Girls Rugby programme running from Under 6s through to Under 18s, we want as many girls playing, training and enjoying rugby as possible.

• Under 6 to under U11s play mixed rugby with the boys but have the opportunity to meet and mix with the older girls.

When at Senior school, Girls Rugby becomes a single sex game, playing according to their school years. We have training and playing opportunities at:

• U12s – Years 6 & 7
• U14s – Years 8 & 9
• U16s – Years 10 & 11
• U18 - Years 12 & 13 - train with the senior women

We are always happy to welcome new players. No rugby experience required.

So if you’re looking for a new challenge where you can make friends, get fit and have fun, rugby might be the game for you.

Promoting Girls Rugby across East Kent

Although based in Thanet. We don’t limit the rugby opportunities to girls from Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Margate. We have players from all over East Kent and work closely with other local clubs to maximise the rugby playing opportunities for girls rugby across East Kent. So if you live in – Ash, Betteshanger, Eastry, Deal, Dover, Hene Bay, Sandwich, Thanet, Whitstable or any of the surrounding towns or villages in East Kent- and want to try rugby, please get in touch – girlsrugby@thanetwanderers.co.uk.

We are committed to working closely with other local rugby clubs to ensure girls based in East Kent can train and play rugby locally.

Working with Local Schools

Thanet Wanderers Girls Rugby Club works with local schools in and around Thanet to spread the word that rugby is a fantastic game for girls. So if you, your daughter or child under your care would like to play rugby at school, or you’re a teacher that would like some help, please let us know - girlsrugby@thanetwanderers.co.uk - and we will contact the school to see what can be done.

Community Club

As a community club we work together to help girls access rugby - please do get in touch if your daughter or child under your care would like to take part but would need transport and/or financial support.

Rugby for all

One of the fantastic things about rugby is that this sport truly values diversity and is for all shapes, sizes, skills and abilities. We would like to encourage all girls regardless of sporting ability to come to try rugby. This includes those girls who may not have considered themselves to be stereotypically ‘sporty’ or might not have found a sport that works for them.
