Thanet Wanderers RUFC under 12s came away as Plate Winners at the East Kent Festival at Canterbury RFC on Sunday. The boys were first up against eventual beaten finalists Canterbury and despite holding them to a half time 1-0 lead, eventually went down 5-0. They learned from that and some improved performances lead to victories against Whitstable 5-0 and Ash 3-1 earning a place in the plate final. Ashford were the opponents who had finished joint top of the other group and had won the Canterbury festival earlier in the season. A tight final was decided by the final play of the game when Jack Cohen's pace took him outside the cover defence to see him score in the corner and earn a 1-0 win and a well-earned piece of silverware.
