Wanderers find a way.

Thanet Wanderers Under 14s have managed to keep their fitness up with carrying out on-line fitness sessions together.

At this time of year we should have been getting ready for two Kent Cup finals having got to both finals in the cup and the development cup before the Corona Virus lockdown stopped all grassroots rugby including our finals.

Although nobody loves the predicament we are in you have to look for ways to carry on as normal as possible. We have introduced using The Zoom App- 3 times a week fitness sessions taken by the coaches for the players and any family members that want to join in. The up take by the lads has been great and they Have really bought into it. We can see them giving their all on the screens.

This gives some fitness while stuck at home, they keep contact with coaches and team mates and gives them something to focus on, when boredom can be an issue.

We are making plans for next season and for the start of summer training when we are on the other side of this.

Assistant Coach Matt Hickmott said ‘ we have come a long way with the lads and they have grown as a squad this year and we were Looking forward to the finals to reap the rewards of the lads hard work, but alas it was not to be this year with these strange time’s and we Look forward to next year.  Doing the Zoom workouts is great fun, keeps the togetherness going and keeps everyone sharp and keen for once we get through these worrying times’

Wanderers is always looking for new players are all levels from our youngest age groups around 5 , through to 18, the firsts, seconds and thirds, veterans and female sides. Any new players can contact us through the Thanet Wanderers Website or Facebook page.
