At 10am on Saturday the 29th March the U14s boarded the coach and embarked on their much anticipated tour to the Netherlands where they played a friendly against Eemland Rugby Club and then on Sunday the 31st March played in the Hilversum International Rugby Festival.
The Saturday match was played against the Eemland U15s/U16s as they didn't have an U14s team available. A tough game, against a very big team, ended up with a very creditable win to the Wanderers. This was followed with some great hospitality from our hosts and a presentation in the clubhouse.
Sunday saw the team take part in the Hilversum Tournament. Some very competitive rugby was on show from teams from around Europe. After a very successful group phase the boys made it through to the final where they played Newbridge from Wales. A very physical game ensued with the Wanderers narrowly missing out on the silverware.
A successful tour all round means the U15s will again be travelling overseas next season and hoping to take another year group with them.
A huge thank you needs to go out to EKC, DDS Group, TW Services and to all of those who helped with the amazing fundraising efforts.
