Recognition for Wanderers Coaches and OfficialsRecognition for Wanderers Coaches and Officials

Thanet Wanderers RUFC is proud to announce that it has been awarded the RFU Whole Club Accreditation and Sport England Clubmark. The award has been gained as the result of the considerable efforts of Peter Dickinson, President of Thanet Wanderers and the club's Coaching Co-ordinator Maggie Watts who gathered and presented the required information. At a recent luncheon, Colin Blackham, next year's President of the Kent County RFU, presented Peter with the Accreditation plaque and certificate. Seperate certificates were presented to Maggie who is also Head coach for the Girls and womens section and to the Chair of the junior section Annemarie Carfoot who received a certificate for that section of the club. Mr Blackham congratulated Thanet Wanderers on achieving this landmark and praised the high quality of the application saying it was one of the best he had seen. The Club President thanked Colin for travelling to Thanet to present the award. He added that the Accreditation was awarded following a critical review of how the club is run examining its working procedures and then setting key objectived for the future. It is a fitting reward for the untiring work carried out by the many coaches and officials in all sections of the club who are to be congratulated as the real winners of the award. The accreditation recognises the effort and achievement of those clubs that reach, maintain and improve on the required standard of a club committed to the provision of quality rugby union experiences for its players. The club must provide suitable facilities in order to recruit new players whilst retaining and developing existing players. Through effective and efficient management the club must recruit and retain high quality coaches volunteers and referees whilst ensuring the club is at the heart of the local community. An annual audit ensures that the high standards are maintained.
