Club Chairman Simon Kemp continues to make steady progress after his recent stroke and hopes to be back at the club for the 2015/16 season. In his absence Vice Chairman Chris Marson took the chair at this year’s AGM held on 15th May. He reviewed a satisfactory season of consolidation for the first XV and successes in other areas of the club. Director of rugby Neil Armstrong set the tone of the meeting highlighting the many positives of the past season including the potential evident in the A XV. Club coaching co-ordinator Maggie Watts applauded the ‘great bunch’ of many recently qualified coaches who had made a real contribution particularly to the mini and junior sections. The benefits were seen in the successes of these sections as highlighted by Junior Rugby Chair Annmarie Carfoot in her review. The extra silverware they have brought to the trophy cabinet did not daunt Director of Operations Gerry Doyle who professed himself very happy in his role. (Despite Appearances!!) Kelly Smith, Director of Finance was satisfied with the current situation but asked for any ideas that could boost club revenue. It costs over £40,000 PA to run the club spread over the calendar year, not just the rugby season. In a comprehensive analysis of the past year, Director of Marketing Peter Ruranski praised the club’s generous sponsors who had contributed the marvellous sum of £24,205 to the club. He highlighted the Golf Day where holes were sponsored at £100 each and two promoted pre match lunches. Martin Gilham was thanked for organising a lunch in aid of Prostate Cancer UK which raised £1367. Chris Marson and Jimmy Green had organised a Past Captains and Players lunch which was very well supported. Jimmy was thanked for organising the weekly newsletter welcomed in in-boxes by many club members.
