Unusually the U15s were second best to a team on Sunday 8th January.
They did however provide their usual high octane display of Rugby but were more than matched by an impressive Beccehamians team. Although both teams had qualified for the next stage of the Kent cup this was far from a dead rubber with bragging rights on offer for topping a tough group.
The game was played almost entirely in the middle third of the pitch, with neither team giving an inch in this bruising encounter. Beccs took the lead and went into the break 7-0.
Shortly after they doubled their advantage and things looked bleak for Thanet. This 15s side do not surrender and showed their fighting spirit as they pounced for a well deserved try through relative new comer Rafe Walters.
The game continued on a knife edge and Beccs claimed a third and decisive try which gave them a somewhat flattering score, but they were worthy winners.
Losing the match was not the only misery felt by the Thanet squad as they will lose out on the talents of their bright fly half Jack Cohen, who unfortunately suffered a broken collarbone in the last few minutes. We wish him a speedy recovery.
