The 2s kicked off against last seasons league winners Maidstone, with a young and hungry team after a good preseason with the first team squad. The commitment shown by the players in preseason immediately took effect with the 2s taking the game straight to the opposition team early with good patterns of play, high intensity and pressure that Maidstone where unable to match. Which lead to Dan Howard starting the scoreboard ticking for a first senior try. More tries quickly followed from Marshall, Stone & Box as the 2s exerted dominance across the park, and did well to stick with the patterns worked on in training as the game became frantic.

The pack dominated at the scrum across the park and showed this dominance on the oppositions 5 meter line, with the opposition putting the ball in the Wanderers pack imposed its strength and dominance to win the scrum and push no.8 Finneran over the line to really start to move the game away from Maidstone.

More tries followed from Howard, Cannon & Stone to leave the half time score at 54-0 to Wanderers. The message at half time was to focus and continue with the high work rate and pressure shown throughout the first half.

This was immediately shown in the second half with strong running lines shown by Howard, Quine , & Rogers who always supported each other and made huge meters down the pitch often leaving the 2s within the opposition 22 to attack from which allowed Box & Marshall to add 2 more tries each.

Rodgers was rewarded for his hard work with a try, which was swiftly added to by a good backs move which allowed Cannon into the corner. Howard manged to add to his try tally and rounded an impressive performance around the park with 3 tries and Man of the Match for his work rate and support throughout the match.

With agreement form the 2 Captains the game was halted early and Wanderers 2s kicked of the new season 97-0 winners.

The whole team really impressed in this fixture and showed real desire to dominate the match from the offset, this team will be looking to build on this result and lay down a marker for the league next week as the 2s take on old foes Canterbury at home.
